Sneak Peek – June 2019

Sneak Peek – June 2019 is here! Translation? Many running shoes are updating. Yay for summer! Yay for the Georgia heat, hills, and humidity! This month we’ll study the Saucony Ride ISO 2, Nike Zoom Pegasus 36, Altra Torin 4 Plush, and ASICS GEL Cumulus 21.

Saucony Ride ISO 2

Saucony Ride ISO 2

The Saucony Ride ISO 2 ($119.99) underwent a few notable changes to enhance the fit, including:

  • Replacing IBR+ with Crystal Rubber in the forefoot for better traction and flex
  • A double jacquard mesh upper for improved breathability
  • Retooling the ISOFIT lacing system for a better midfoot hold

Nike Zoom Pegasus 36

If you liked the Pegasus 35, version 36 (still priced at $119.99) won’t disappoint! The midsole and outsole carried over, so that leaves upper tweaks. In short, the tongue is thinner to reduce weight and wrap across the instep nicely. The upper is superb I might add, boasting better breathability and a sharp, streamlined look. Good design—that’s what Nike does well folks.

Altra Torin 4 Plush

Altra Torin 4 Plush

The Altra Torin 4 Plush ($139.99), like the Torin Mesh ($119.99), features Quantic, a new lightweight midsole compound that’s equally parts soft and responsive. The Plush also sports an engineered knit upper, external heel counter, and more cushioning courtesy of the Perf-X insole.

ASICS GEL Cumulus 21

Yes, the Cumulus keeps humming along. Version 21 ($119.99) of this daily trainer by ASICS received a few revisions. Have a gander at the particulars:

  • More toe box space (height and width)
  • Flytefoam to Flytefoam Lyte for midsole weight reduction
  • Multi-directional mesh upper

We hope Sneak Peek – June 2019 is helpful shoe research! Speaking of which, if you’re in the market for new trainers, there’s a bevy of options available at your local Big Peach Running Co. store. Remember, running shoes typically last 300-500 miles, so if your feet or knees are continually sore, it may be the shoes. But we’re delighted and ready to help you find that next, best fit for those summer breeze miles!
